Police say an officer involved in a fatal pursuit last year has now received extra training

Police say an officer involved in a fatal pursuit last year has now received extra training

The police watchdog has found the Palmerston North pursuit- which ended in the death of the 15-year-old driver, and a 12-year old passenger- should not have been initiated.

Police are acknowledging the findings, saying it's a tragic event with an outcome no one wanted.

They say after the recent review of pursuits - they've been doing work with the community to find out why people flee, and how they can prevent it.
