John Burrett appeared in court handcuffed to his stepson Simon Jonathan Phillpot, a 34-year-old builder and his nephew Matthew Norman Payne aged 21.
Appearing dressed in a suit on this occasion, Burrett entered no plea. The lawyers representing the three accused consented to the trio being remanded in custody until their next hearing on August 14. Howeve they have reserved the right to apply for bail.
The interim name suppression order was lifted making the media able to name the two co accused.
Leaving the court still handcuffed together, Burrett took the opportunity to apologise to his wife in public and tell the media "This was a silly game between my nephew and I, which was totally stupid"
