Gail McFayden - The Arrest
Twenty-four year-old Queen Elizabeth Park groundsman, John James Murphy, was arrested on Wednesday 24 March and charged with the murder. Murphy had emerged as a suspect a few days earlier. He had told police early in the inquiry that he had seen Gail walking towards the beach at about 11-30 that morning and again, soon after 1pm, sitting on the beach. He also assisted in the search.
