Wed 11 Aug - Scratch marks didn't match screwdriver or ruler says ESR
Scratch marks found on the foam lining of a hatch on Scott Watson's yacht have been under scrutiny in the High Court murder trial in Wellington.
ESR scientist Peter Wilson says he found 176 marks on the underside of the forward hatch.
After comparing the marks with ones made by a screwdriver and ruler, he concluded they were made by fingernails.
Under cross-examination by the defence, Mr Wilson says he didn't test other objects found on Watson's boat to see if they made the same types of marks, because he doubted they would.
In earlier evidence Olivia Hope's father was questioned about the length of his daughter's fingernails.
